I honour the very qualities that embodies yoga to the fullest wave of devotion. Change is constant - in all levels of life, and my dharma is to support practise that expands our boundaries and transforms perspectives towards inner truth and integrity.

 

I hold Master’s degree in Somatic Movement and I am certified in Yoga Alliance and Kundalini Research Institute (E-RYT 500) in Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa and Kundalini Yoga, from the lineage of Krishnamacharya, Yogi Bhajan and B.K.S Iyengar. I have been actively leading teacher training programmes and retreats around Asia, educating and elevating hundreds of students to find deeper connection to the subtle bodies and sensory awareness, which I have witnessed as a doorway for higher forms of transformation.

 

I grew up close to the North Pole in Lapland, Finland, and my yearning for self realization, passion for ancient yogic science, Advaita Vedanta and Buddhist meditation led me to spend years seeking the truth inside. I immersed myself over and over again in silence and solitude in Buddhist monasteries, seeking guidance from spiritual masters and teachers of Non-Duality in the lineage of Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta Maharaj.

 

I seek ways to help my students to find more intuitive dialoque with our humble and wise heart, so that we can every day choose to create a new definition and feeling of “who am I?”, and to wake up into our fullest potential. My background in African studies and humanitarian field always reminds me of the cries of this earth and keeps deeply believing in the rise of the human consciousness.

 

I share the practises of committed sadhana and self-inquiry, where yoga is not seen as a physical practise, but a way of liberation and awakening by detaching from the old stories that we hold within. Bhakti yoga and Raja yoga are deepening the experience of what it means to live yogic and sattvic life, so that all the practises are brought into daily divine human experience, in which the bodymind is finally free to ungrip and return into its innate silence.

MOVING INTO BEING supports spiritual wellbeing and guides in the path of awakening through Yogic living and Somatic Movement Education, where "Soma" refers to the "living body in its wholeness".

 

Surya Shivjot teaches Hatha Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Yin Yoga, Meditation, Yoga Philosophy, Authentic Movement, Contact Improvisation and Body-Mind Centering to re-educate the neuromuscular system and support ongoing and sustainable self-care. Sensory awareness, asana, pranayama, mantra, mudra, creative movement and visualization are incorporated to encompass the dimensions of body, mind and spirit. To create deep states of consentrated absorption, leading to subsiding of mental turbulence and development of state beyond the personal identity.

 

Safe learning environments are created to support body awareness, creative expression and deep stillness of the mind. The body is not observed from outside but from within, turning the movement inside out and rendering the felt body visible and expressive. It allows everyone to have a practice that supports their individual needs and inner experience beyond the physical body.

 

Stillness of the spirit becomes naturally part of us when all layers of being are integrated and we are BEING moved. Re-discovering what it means to be alive and coming home to centered being. Awekening to all that you are.
